The gala is a major event for the Collegiate 100 since its re-chartering at the university in March 2011.  The organization was created at Prairie View A&M University in 1993 and became a national auxiliary organization of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. in 1994.  Proceeds from the gala will support the organization’s mentoring programs at Arnold Middle School and Navasota Elementary School, scholarships to students and other special programs at the university.

In recent months the Collegiates have sponsored several programs to impact the university community to include the Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon distribution, Mentoring the 100 Way with the Freshmen, College Tour for elementary through high school students and Voter Registration Drives.  The organization was the recipient of the President’s Cup for Outstanding Student Organization in 2012 and 2013 at PVAMU.
The Collegiate 100 is sponsored by the 100 Black Men of Metro Houston, Inc. The mission is to support the 100 in its four for the future programs: mentoring, education, health and wellness and economic empowerment to improve the quality of life of the community.
