Jonathan Amos, a senior accounting major at Prairie View A &M University is the new president of the Collegiate 100. Originally elected vice president, Amos ascended to the position with the resignation of Patrick Gray who served as president for 2012-13. Amos previously served as Treasurer for 2012-13.
To enhance his professional development, Jonathan completed two internships, the first with Spectra Energy Inc., Houston in Summer 2012 and Deloitte & Touche LLP. Houston in Summer 2013. Both internships provided opportunities for him to network and develop his professional and technical skills for his future career as a CPA.
He also competed in the KPMG Case Study Competition sponsored by J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. with in Phoenix, Arizona in the summer of 2012. He is most proud of the competition because it gave him a chance to present a detailed perspective on diversity of J.P Morgan Chase Board of Directors to the judges.
Jonathan’s membership include, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. (Fundraising and Finance Committee Chair), Accounting Career Awareness Program (Counselor), National Association of Black Accountants (NABA-President), Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society (Vice President), and Volunteers of America. He also is a member of the Intramural Basketball Team and American Cancer Society Relay for Life team. Amidst his busy schedule, Jonathan finds time to participate in the Collegiate’s mentoring program at Arnold Middle School in Cypress and the Mentoring the 100 Way for the 100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston, Inc.
Some of his awards and recognition include, participant in the Wake Forest Diversity Accounting Consortium, United Ministers Scholarship, J.E.L. Emerging Leaders Scholarship, National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) Regional Scholarship, the University’s Dean’s List and President’s Honor Roll and a participant in the College of Business’s Cultural Exchange Trip to South Korea.

Strong organizational and leadership skills; able to work effectively and efficiently while handling multiple tasks in a high pressure environment.
Upon receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in May 2014 he plans to become a CPA and to become a Partner for Deloitte and Touché.
The Collegiate 100 is comprised of students on college and university campuses across America who shares common goals with the sponsoring 100 Black Men of America Chapter. Collegiate 100 members are committed to volunteerism and improving the community through mentoring and being positive role models for the youth, particularly young African Americans. The Collegiate 100 was created at Prairie View A&M University in 1993 and became a national organization of the 100 Black Men, Inc., in 1994. The chapter was re-chartered at the University in March 2011.
